Sensory Box: Farm Theme
Farm Animals & Alphabet Letter Tabs.

Jasiah is exploring the sensory box to see what he can find. Jasiah is also excited to tell me what he has found and to ask questions which expands his language skills.

After finding some of the letters and animals we decided to catagorize them by matching the letters sounds to the animals.

David and Emily found thier own way of playing in the sensory box. David decided to find all things round and Emily decided to find all of the same animals and line them up.

Emily liked finding all the different animals you find on a farm and lined them up.

Jamie found all the horses and put them together by color.

I love using Sensory Boxes because they are a great way for children to learn and explore through their own senses by discovering the world around them. Here the children are discovering all the different farm animals along with scrapbooking alphabet tabs I found on sale at Michaels. The kids are learning about farm animals and what sound each animal makes along with the sound of each letter. The more advanced the child is in learning, they can use this Sensory Box to find the letter sound that goes with the name of the animal. When the child becomes more experienced, they can put letters together into small words. So you can have children of different ages together and each child can find their own level of learning and discovery. Sensory boxes are great to use when finding  things around your environment and putting them into a sensory box for the children to discover. You can do many differnt sensory boxes, for example: Sensory Seasonal Box for each season, Oceanic Box, Desert Box, Bird Box or any theme you might find your child would be interested in. I will continue to switch out my sensorial box for each new theme I do.
